Description
The Entires, Belfast are a series of alleyways mostly in the vicinty of High Street. They serviced residential and commercial premises in the old city and contain some Victorian Pubs that are still open today. The Entries have been described as "The close knit passageways where Belfast was born and bred". Joy's Entry is named after the Joy family, a prominent 18century family in the city. McCrackens Cafe Bar in Joy's Entry is named after Mary Ann McCracken. She was a famous 18 century social reformer and sister of Henry Joy McCracken. Republican and United Irishman, executed in 1798.
